Alligator Leather Strap for Seculus Watch with Anatomical Shape

A client approached me with a Seculus 4494.2.5030D men’s watch and asked for a custom strap that would make the watch wearable again. The original rubber strap of this model had a specific attachment system that helped it sit closely against the case and support the watch’s case geometry, but the strap had reached the end of its service life and was no longer functional.

There was another practical issue: the original strap was too short for the client’s larger wrist. In addition, rubber was not the most comfortable material for daily wear, especially in warm climates.

The task was not to copy the original strap mechanically. Its form could not be reproduced in leather in exactly the same way, so the solution had to respect the watch’s proportions while adapting the construction to a different material. I made the new strap from black alligator leather and gave it an anatomical shape so it could follow the wrist more naturally.

The length was adjusted for a more comfortable fit, and the black lining leather was chosen to keep the strap discreet and visually unified from the outside to the inside. This also made the strap more comfortable for daily use than the original rubber version.

To strengthen the construction, I used Jaeger reinforcements from Germany. They help the strap resist stretching and deformation, which is especially important for a larger watch worn regularly.

The result is not a direct copy of the original rubber strap, but a leather interpretation of it: more refined, more comfortable for the client’s wrist, and still visually connected to the Seculus case.
