Bespoke Belt in Black Saffiano Leather

This belt was made as a continuation of a previous order: a watch strap crafted from the same black Saffiano leather. After receiving the strap, the client wanted to extend this material and visual language to another accessory. The result was a belt that did not have to stand apart, but to belong to the same restrained and consistent set.

Saffiano leather was an important part of the commission. Its crosshatch texture gives the belt a clear, structured surface, while the black colour keeps the object calm and versatile. For a daily belt, this material also has a practical side: the textured finish is less visually fragile than a perfectly smooth leather surface.

The inner side of the belt was finished with a water-repellent lining. This was not a decorative choice, but a practical one. A belt is constantly in contact with the body and clothing, so the lining has to be comfortable, stable, and resistant to everyday use.

The belt is 40 mm wide. The buckle was made in Italy from solid brass and covered with the same black Saffiano leather as the belt. This detail changes the character of the whole piece: the buckle does not work as a separate metal accent, but becomes part of the same visual surface.

The belt was stitched entirely by hand using the saddle stitch technique and MeiSi Super Fine linen thread. In a long object like a belt, the regularity of the stitch, the edge finishing, and the alignment of the buckle area are especially visible. There is very little to hide behind; the quality of execution is read in the continuity of the line.

The belt was made to the client’s personal measurements. This is one of the simplest but most important reasons to order a bespoke belt: the length, hole placement, buckle position, and overall fit can be made for the person rather than adjusted from a standard size.

The result is a bespoke black Saffiano leather belt that continues the aesthetic of the client’s earlier watch strap. It is restrained, functional, and visually unified — a daily accessory made around a specific material, a specific buckle solution, and a specific wearer.
