Calf leather watch strap for Davosa

This bespoke Davosa watch strap was made in black perforated calfskin leather, with thin red stitching and a folding buckle. The design follows the language of classic 1960s rally straps, where perforation is not only decorative but also part of the strap’s historical character.

The aim was to make the watch feel sportier and more expressive without adding visual weight. The black fine-grained calfskin keeps the overall look controlled, while the thin red stitching picks up the colour of the watch’s red seconds hands. Because these hands are narrow and precise, the stitching also had to remain fine rather than dominant.

The perforated upper layer gives the strap its rally-style identity. It changes the rhythm of the surface, makes the strap visually lighter, and gives the watch a stronger motorsport-inspired character. At the same time, the leather itself remains refined: almost smooth, with a delicate lustre and a slightly pronounced grain.

The lower layer was made from waterproof hypoallergenic leather lining for better comfort during daily wear. The strap is splash resistant, which is appropriate for normal use, although it should not be treated as a fully water-resistant sports strap.

The folding buckle adds practical convenience. It allows the strap to be opened and closed more easily, reduces repeated bending near the holes, and helps the watch sit securely on the wrist.
