Equilibrium — A Bespoke Watch Project
Equilibrium is a bespoke skeleton watch created to mark a personal milestone in the life of its owner. The project was realized in collaboration with independent jeweler Sergey Sofronov and built around a vintage Patek Philippe movement, chosen as the starting point of the entire composition. The skeletonization turns the movement from a concealed functional element into the central architectural component of the object—open to view and defining the character of the watch.

The movement is housed in a solid 750 gold case. The total weight of the case and clasp is 70 grams. The 45 mm case diameter was selected deliberately: this scale preserves a balance between visual presence and legibility of the complex construction, without turning the object into a demonstrative gesture.
The dial is made of sterling silver and fully skeletonized. The hands and screws feature deep blue heat bluing, creating a restrained color contrast and emphasizing the depth of the movement against the warm tone of gold. Sapphire crystals are installed on both sides of the case, allowing the movement to be viewed from the dial side as well as from the case back.

As part of the project, I crafted two interchangeable alligator leather watch straps, developed specifically to match the architecture of the case and the overall color logic of the watch. Both straps are designed for use with the gold folding clasp, which is an integral part of the project. One strap is executed in a golden tone that echoes the case, while the second is finished in deep blue, supporting the blued hands and screws of the movement.
