Recently, while sorting through my collection of rare leathers, I came across an alligator belt with natural scarring — a unique piece that tells a story of strength, struggle, and genuine life. It bore no factory smoothness or the usual “perfect” finish, only the raw beauty left by the teeth of its kin.
Typically, materials are chosen to fit a project, but this was one of those rare cases when the material itself seemed to be waiting for its moment. Waiting for the idea that would do justice to its story. It was as if the material itself was suggesting the shape of the future creation. That’s exactly what happened with this alligator belt with natural scarring. I realized it didn’t need elaborate processing or flamboyant design. It was enough for it to remain true to itself, expressed as a belt that is rugged, masculine, and suited for everyday style.
Shortly after the work was completed, a regular client visited my studio. As soon as he saw the alligator belt with natural scarring, he knew it was meant for him. I immediately shortened it and adjusted it to his measurements to ensure it would fit perfectly for daily wear. This was also my first time incorporating NFC technology — a subtle feature that opens new possibilities for future interaction with the belt.
The belt is entirely hand-stitched using MeiSi Super Fine waxed linen thread. A water-resistant calfskin lining and Jaeger reinforcements make it especially practical and durable. The belt has a width of 40 mm. The buckle, crafted in Italy from solid brass, is covered with the same leather as the belt itself, creating a refined and cohesive finish.
