This bag was custom-made for one of my regular clients. He approached me with a request to create a gift for someone significant — an object that would combine unconventional aesthetics, reliability, and a sense of individuality.
We reviewed numerous options, comparing textures, tones, and the overall character of materials. The client had a clear understanding of the recipient’s preferences and selected the combination he felt would resonate best with their taste and personality.
The main material is a distinctive full-grain calfskin by Gruppo Mastrotto, featuring a bold print that evokes sweeping brushstrokes across a white canvas. This energetic pattern gives the piece a dynamic, slightly provocative, yet structured and intentional presence. The interior is lined with Oscar fabric in graphite gray — a muted tone that balances the expressive exterior and brings composure to the overall composition.
Functionality was just as important as the visual identity. The bag meets carry-on size requirements, and the removable, adjustable shoulder strap ensures comfort while traveling. A leather handle-keeper and a luggage tag with engraved personal data add a sense of order and completeness to the design.
Structural elements are reinforced with hidden Jaeger Reinforcements, providing shape stability and long-term durability. For the zippers, we used time-tested RiRi hardware from Switzerland, known for reliability and smooth performance.
The bag comes with a custom protective cover made from dense graphite-colored fabric and chèvre leather by Bonaudo. Tailored to the bag’s shape, the cover fastens with snap buttons and is finished with a personalized patch containing an NFC chip.
Both the bag and its accessories are equipped with NFC tags that link to a personalized page documenting the story behind this thoughtful commission.
