Two bespoke straps for Frédérique Constant — a gift shaped by care and precision

This project brought together a technical challenge and a deeply personal gesture. A gentleman approached my studio with an idea to create a custom gift for his wife — a pair of bespoke straps for her Frédérique Constant – elegant and tailored to her timepiece

This model stands out not only for its graceful design but also for its rare lug width: 19 mm at the case and 16 mm at the clasp. Finding a high-quality strap in this size — especially one made from premium materials and with perfect execution — is close to impossible. That’s where the process began. What followed was a careful exploration of texture and tone.

We focused closely on the dial — a multilayered mother-of-pearl surface with iridescent depth that shifts with the light. Photographs can’t truly capture its nuance. The goal was not simply to find a matching color, but to identify a leather that resonates with the dial’s atmosphere. We selected a piece of alligator leather with a refined, muted tone — so perfectly attuned to the dial’s shimmer that it feels like a continuation of it.

The second strap was made from Tegu lizard leather in a rare Himalaya shade — a natural blend of white and grey. It offers a lighter, more casual counterpart to the alligator strap, ideal for warmer seasons or lighter outfits. The grain of the Tegu leather visually echoes the stones on the dial and bezel, tying the composition together with subtle elegance.

Both straps were crafted in a women’s size of 110/70 mm, with an anatomical shape that ensures comfort from the very first wear. Their design is thin and minimalist — no stitching, no excess volume, just clarity of line and form. To reinforce the delicate construction, I integrated Jaeger Reinforcements — ultra-thin technical layers that add structure while remaining invisible to the eye.

Each strap is finished with a butterfly clasp — elegant in appearance and practical in use. It distributes pressure evenly and helps preserve the leather over time.

These bespoke straps for Frédérique Constant reflect a balance of function and emotion. This gift is more than a functional accessory. It’s a gesture of taste, attention, and care — a quiet expression of devotion through craftsmanship.
