Custom Alligator Leather Strap for Omega Watch

This bespoke alligator leather strap was made for an Omega watch after the original strap proved too short for comfortable wear. The original strap measured 65/105 mm, so the new strap was made longer, at 85/115 mm, to improve the fit on the wrist.

The upper leather was cut from dark blue alligator, chosen to give the watch a deeper and more refined character than a standard black strap. The colour remains restrained, but it adds more depth to the watch and works well with the metal case.

The strap was made with an anatomical shape, so the construction follows the wrist more naturally. In a longer strap, this is especially important: the additional length should improve comfort, not make the strap feel heavier or less controlled.

The construction is full rembordé. In this type of strap, the upper leather is wrapped around the edge and folded to the underside, creating a clean closed edge rather than a visible cut edge. This gives the strap a more seamless and refined appearance, while also protecting the edge structure.

For the lower layer, I used hypoallergenic lining leather with water-resistant properties to improve comfort during daily wear. The strap is splash resistant, which is appropriate for normal use, although it should not be treated as a fully water-resistant sports strap.

Inside the construction, Jaeger reinforcements from Germany were used to help the strap retain its shape and resist stretching or deformation over time. This is particularly important around the holes, the buckle area, and other points exposed to repeated bending and tension.

The result is a longer, more comfortable bespoke Omega strap that keeps the watch refined while improving the fit and structural reliability of the original configuration.
