Buffalo leather watch strap for the Seculus watch

This bespoke watch strap was made for a Seculus watch in black buffalo leather with the original Seculus deployment clasp. As with many Seculus straps of this construction, the client’s original strap was important as a donor for the internal insert at the case end of the strap.

This insert has a specific fit between the lugs and helps preserve the correct transition from the watch case to the leather strap. In my work, I often see original Seculus straps wear or fail around the point where the rigid insert transitions into the leather part. When making a new bespoke strap, the original strap can therefore be essential as a construction reference and donor.

For this version, black buffalo leather was selected instead of alligator. Buffalo gives the strap a more restrained and practical character: less formal, less glossy, and more tactile. It suits a watch that is intended for regular use while still keeping the result clean and deliberate.

The original Seculus deployment clasp was preserved and fitted to the new strap. This keeps the familiar way of fastening the watch and reduces repeated bending around the holes compared with a simple pin buckle.

For the lower layer, I used hypoallergenic moisture-resistant lining leather for daily comfort. Inside the construction, Jaeger reinforcements from Germany were used to help the strap resist stretching and deformation over time.

Specifications: black buffalo upper leather, original internal insert from the old strap, hypoallergenic moisture-resistant lining leather, Jaeger reinforcements, original Seculus deployment clasp, 105/65 mm length, 22/20 mm width.

The result is a practical black buffalo leather strap that preserves the specific case-end fit of the original Seculus strap while replacing the worn leather structure with a stronger bespoke construction.
